In this blog feature we introduce a man that pretty much anyone who has entered the lakes will have met. Kishor Rai might well be the smiliest, most well mannered employee at the Lakes by Yoo but he also is responsible for keeping things safe and secure and as an ex-gurkha you can be confident of this. We took some time to find out a little more about the king of smiles and warm welcomes.
James: You’ve been at the Lakes since the beginning of the development, what are some of your best memories of your time at the Lakes?
Kishor: When I started, the site wasn’t as nice as it is now. I still remember that we used to walk through the bushes and woodlands to patrol the West Bowmoor area. There weren’t any roads to these areas or roads leading to the Huntsman area which was dusty in the summer and very muddy during the winter.
James: What is your favourite season at the lakes?
Kishor: My favourite seasons at the lakes are winter and summer. In the winter it is so quiet and peaceful. Everything looks so calm and time seems to stand still. The summer is different, there’s lots more people on site and the air is full of fun and joy. People are happy and they enjoy the outdoor activities like cycling, walking, fishing and boating etc.
James: You always seem to have a smile on your face, what is the secret?
Kishor: Well, this is a top secret. The main thing is I really enjoy what I do and I am happy with my life. The Lakes is a lovely place to work and this helps with my contentment.
James: What do you like to get up to when you’re not at the Lakes?
Kishor: I don’t do much to be honest, it depends on the weather and my mood. I normally go to gym and drive around the countryside when the weather is nice.
James: Tell us something that we don’t know about Kishor!?
Kishor: I have no secrets that I need to hide, I’m like an open book!
James: The Cotswolds has some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, do you have a favourite village or place?
Kishor: There are so many beautiful places in the Cotswolds. It has such a rich history and culture. A good mix of city and country life. I do love the city of Bath though.
Thank you Kishor for taking the time to give us a glimpse into your life!
