Author Lady Sandra Howard was guest of honour at a reception at the Orchard Spa at the Lakes by yoo.
Among the guests at the launch reception were ex-Bond girl and Kempsford resident Fiona Fullerton and Lady Mavis, Viscountess Dunrossil, former chairman of Gloucestershire County Council.
More than 70 people attended the reception to mark the opening of the Kempsford Literary Festival.
Lady Howard, wife of Michael, former Conservative Party chairman, has just had her fourth book – Ex-Wives – published.
Kempsford Literary Festival was founded by the Rev Tim Hastie-Smith, vicar of St Mary’s Kemspford. This year it has featured such well-known names Katie Adie, Christine Hamilton, Lord Gutherie and Virginia McKenna.
Mr Hastie-Smith said: “We’re thrilled Sandra was able to join us again at the festival and to be our guest of honour at the reception. The launch party at The Lakes by yoo was utterly brilliant and we look forward to continue to work with the Lakes. They are now very much part of our community.”
On July 12, Baroness Julia Neuberger, author of “Is that all there is” will speak followed by Justin Pollard, writer from TV’s Qi, will host a quiz night on September 15.
